Nigeria Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro has put goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali's availability in the African Cup of Nations quarter final match against Angola in doubt, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Nwabali has been fighting to be fit ahead of the make or mar clash with the Palancas Negras after he sustained an injury against Cameroon in the round of 16 tie.
Portuguese gaffer disclosed at the prematch conference that Nwabali's availability is subject to the test result of the scan that will be done on Thursday.
He however stated that if Nwabali will not fit for the Friday encounter, he reposes a lot of confidence in his other goalkeepers.
“We will do the final test today,” Peseiro informed reporters during Thursday’s pre-match conference in Abidjan. “After that, we will decide whether he can start or not.
“But we are confident in the other goalkeepers in the team. We have Francis Uzoho and Olorunleke Ojo. They are capable of replacing Stanley [Nwabali].”
The Chippa United goalkeeper has maintained calm and composure in the matches played so far conceding once and restoring the hope of many Nigerians in the goalkeeping department of the Nigerian National team.
It is the hope of many Nigerians for Nwabali to be fit in time for the clash at Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Friday.
