Jorge Valdano has called for a swift conclusion to the so-called Negreira case involving Barcelona.
Valdano, who has held roles as a player, coach and director at Real Madrid, was discussing the investigation into payments made by Barcelona to a former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees.
The Catalan club is suspected of attempting to influence refereeing through those payments. Barcelona has said the money was for reports and analysis relating to refereeing.
Valdano said the matter should be resolved as soon as possible, with Barcelona and Real Madrid due to meet in El Clasico on Sunday.
