Jordan Henderson equalled a Premier League record by scoring and providing an assist within the opening 149 seconds of Chelsea’s match against Bournemouth.
The veteran English Premier League player made an immediate impact, contributing to both goals by two minutes and 29 seconds.
The feat had previously been achieved only once in the competition. In April 1998, Emile Heskey did the same while playing for Derby County, also scoring and assisting during the first 149 seconds.
Heskey and Henderson therefore required exactly the same amount of time to complete the record-breaking double.
Chelsea’s next Premier League fixture is against Everton.
