Ghana international John Paintsil has called on the state to honor retired Stephen Appiah following his exploits with the national team.
Appiah, announced his retirement on Wednesday in a unique way by sending a mail to all media houses.
Paintsil who played alongside Appiah both at the 2006 and 2010 world cup says he deserves state honor.
“He has to be honored by the state because, I mean he qualified the team to the World Cup and I don’t think his achievements only had an effect on our football, but an ambassadorial role for the whole nation,” John Paintsil told Accra-based radio station Starr 103.5FM.
Appiah is one of the few players to have represented Ghana at all national levels.
