Joel Yakubu, days after his move from Abuja-based side Mahanaim FC to Czech Republic side, Slovan Liberec has hit the ground running immediately, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Yakubu scored in his side's 4-0 win over Ceská Lípa in the play-off of the 6th round of the CFL at the Municipal Stadium.

Lukas Kocka opened the scoring after eight minutes of action before Filip Papoušek doubled the lead before the end of the first half.

Lukáš Letenay added the third goal on 63 minutes before substitute Joel Yakubu consolidated victory in the 85th minute.

Coach Jakub Harant was full of praise for the recruit who made an immediate impact.

“Joel joined us at the beginning of August. At his age, he can still start for the U19 category, now he jumped into the match for the first time. I'm glad that he scored a goal right away. I think he showed a typical action for him," coach Jakub Harant commented after the match.

"He has quick control of the ball, a good overview of the game, and calmness in finishing. We believe that he will continue to improve and his role in the club will become more and more prominent." the coach added.

Yakubu's transfer was made known on Wednesday as he joined on a three-year deal.
