Jamie Vardy's Move to Arsenal Would See Fleetwood Earn Big Money According to Chairman

Jamie Vardy's former clubs Halifax and Fleetwood Town stand to benefit if he decides to join Arsenal, a chairman has admitted.

Arsenal triggered the Leicester City striker's £20m release clause and agreed provisional terms with him which prompted the Foxes to return with a counter-offer to convince him to stay.

The Englishman will reportedly make his decision after Euro 2016 but Fleetwood could be in line for 25% of whatever Leicester receive although Fleetwood chairman Andy Pilley refused to shed light on the exact figure they could gain.

"There is a sell-on clause," he said. "I would not want to say how much. It would be inappropriate to suggest how much. Of course any money received is gratefully received.

"It would not stop with us, it is also passed on to Halifax.

"A sell-on clause is pretty standard and Halifax have a sell-on clause so it filters down the football pyramid and it helps a lot of clubs at different levels.

"Leicester have been first class throughout the whole process and I was delighted to see them achieve what they did last season.

"The national press have said it could change Fleetwood.

"But we would get a relatively small amount back and it would not be life changing.

"We we will not be changing our business plan and we will not be going on a spending spree if it happens.

"We will continue to run the club like we always have done."?
