A statement on United's official website read: "Manchester United and Derby County have reached an agreement for talented young striker James Wilson to complete a season-long loan at the iPro Stadium.
"The 20-year-old, who has scored four goals in 20 first-team appearances for the Reds, will join Nigel Pearson's squad as the Rams look to secure promotion from the Championship this campaign."
Derby, meanwhile, put out this statement on their own website: "Derby County have agreed a deal to sign promising Manchester United and England Under 21 international striker James Wilson on loan until the end of the 2016/17 season.
"Wilson, who turns 21 in December, will link up with Nigel Pearson's squad in the coming days."
Wilson joined United as a seven-year-old in 2002, and has represented England at under-16, under-19, under-20 and under-21 level. He has made 20 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils to date, scoring four goals in the process.
Derby manager Nigel Pearson says he is delighted with the signing and believes that the 20-year-old will strengthen his attack.
"We're delighted to have agreed to bring James Wilson the club on a season-long loan.
"I hope that this loan deal will prove to be mutually beneficial for all parties and I would like to place on record our thanks to Manchester United for allowing James to join us. He is an energetic player who will add to our existing attacking options."?
