Udinese Calcio head coach Kosta Runjaic has lamented the unavailability of goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye who is set to undergo surgery as officially communicated by his club after suffering a tear in the scapholunate ligament of his right wrist, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
This was made in an official statement by the club which read; "Maduka Okoye meanwhile has torn the scapholunate ligament in his right wrist following a trauma. He will have surgery to repair the ligament in the next few days".
Head coach Kosta Runjaic bemoaned the loss of his first-choice goalkeeper, admitting that the Nigeria international has established himself as one of the key players for the team.
“It's [Maduka] Okoye's first season as No.1 and he was playing really well but injuries are part and parcel of the game. We have two goalkeepers who can replace him, [Razvan] Sava and [Daniele] Padelli, and I'm sure they'll do a great job covering for him. If nothing changes, Sava will play.
“It's never good when you lose two key players in a week and I'm really sorry for both of them on a personal level".
