Inter have appointed Dario Baccin as their new sporting director after ending Piero Ausilio’s 28-year association with the club.
The decision to part company with Ausilio was taken by mutual agreement, according to an announcement on Inter’s official website.
Ausilio has been involved with the Milan club for almost three decades and had held the sporting director position since 2014. His departure brings an end to one of the longest senior spells in Inter’s recent history.
During the period in which Ausilio served as sporting director, Inter won three league titles, three Coppa Italia trophies and three Supercoppa Italiana titles. The club also reached three European competition finals during that time.
His work therefore covered a period in which Inter added significant domestic silverware while also competing regularly at the highest level in Europe. The club’s decision to make a change in the sporting department now means responsibility for that area will pass to Baccin.
Baccin has worked in Inter’s technical department for many years and has maintained close links with the first team. He has also been involved in establishing the club’s reserve side, which competes in Serie C.
That experience within the technical structure and his involvement with the senior squad have led to his promotion to the sporting director role. Inter’s announcement confirms a change at executive level while keeping the appointment within the club’s existing football organisation.
Baccin will follow Ausilio in a position that has overseen key aspects of Inter’s sporting operations since 2014. His previous work across the club’s technical department and reserve-team project provides the background to his new responsibilities.
The move marks the end of Ausilio’s long tenure and the beginning of a new phase under Baccin. Inter have not provided any further details beyond confirming the mutual decision to separate from Ausilio and naming Baccin as his successor.
