Insurance earn second win of the campaign as Heartland, Ikorodu share spoils

Lagos-based Ikorodu City continued their fine form in the league as they held Heartland FC to a 1-all draw in Owerri on Thursday as the 2024/25 Nigeria Professional Football League season reaches the 7th week, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

The Oga Boys after winning their first-ever top-flight league game last Saturday against Bendel Insurance got the first goal in their game against Heartland FC of Owerri through Salau Yusuf with 5 minutes into the game. Plateau United inflicted the second league defeat of the campaign on Remo Stars, beating them 3-1 in Jos. Plateau United raced to a 3-0 lead thanks to a brace from Chukwuebuka (4'; 71') and one from Sadiq Abubakar Adamu (64'). malik scored Remo Stars' only goal of the game.

Kastina United defeated Akwa United by a lone goal to wrap up matchday 7 of the current campaign. Azeez Falolu's goal in the 27th minute separated both sides at full-time.

Action resumes this weekend with a series of mouthwatering encounters. Remo Stars will hope to bounce back from the defeat to Plateau United when they host Bendel Insurance. Ikorodu City will target another win when Lobi Stars visit them in Lagos. After an impressive away win at Enugu on Wednesday, Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa will hope he can lead Kano Pillars to back-to-back victory when they welcome Kwara United to Kano. Fidelis Ilechukwu will target a return to winning ways against Akwa United in Uyo.
