Victor Osimhen Named Turkish Media’s Player of the Month for August

Victor Osimhen has been named Player of the Month for August by Turkish football outlet HT Spor following his outstanding start to the 2026/27 season with Galatasaray, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Super Eagles striker has made an immediate impact for the Turkish champions, with HT Spor highlighting the significant difference his presence makes to the team’s performances.

“With Osimhen, Galatasaray is on an entirely different level. Without Osimhen, the team suffers,” the Turkish outlet noted.

Osimhen has scored six goals and provided two assists in four Turkish Süper Lig appearances this season, making him the division’s leading scorer.

However, the Nigerian will miss Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Sporting CP tonight as he continues his recovery from injury.

Turkish football pundit Cem Dizdar also highlighted Osimhen’s importance to Galatasaray, arguing that his influence has become increasingly difficult to overlook.

"The Osimhen effect in Galatasaray was already predictable. These stats already make him the country's number one player in terms of wage efficiency, championship efficiency, and team strength efficiency. Most likely, we'll start talking about what might happen in his absence any moment now. So you started your sentence that way too: Unfortunately, Osimhen is out.

"For instance, no one is thinking about Lemina's or Singo's absence with this kind of intensity. They're important too, of course, but this stat shows just how decisive Osimhen's absence is in terms of weight, and therefore how decisive his presence is as well."

Osimhen’s explosive start has further underlined his importance to Galatasaray, with the Nigerian now firmly established as one of the club’s most influential players as the season progresses.
