Ukaegbu praises Enyimba’s revival after victory over 10-man Plateau United

Enyimba assistant coach Lawrence Ukaegbu says the club are returning to their best after a 2-0 win over 10-man Plateau United extended their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to three matches.

The nine-time NPFL champions secured successive league victories on Sunday at Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, moving out of the relegation zone in the process.

Ifeanyi Ihemekwele put Enyimba ahead shortly before the half-hour mark before Richard Ezinwa added a second in the 66th minute.

Ukaegbu believes the result reflects a broader improvement in the team and says Enyimba have recovered the competitive strength that has been associated with the club in recent years.

“We have returned to our best form, and I can assure you of this,” Ukaegbu told journalists after the match.

“Our success has been built on consistency and the players’ commitment to working as one unit.”

He also credited the squad’s clearer understanding of the standards expected of them for their recent improvement.

“The players have now developed a comprehensive understanding of the expectations we have established for them,” he added.

“This understanding accounts for the remarkable resurgence you have observed.”

Enyimba, also known as the People’s Elephant, will try to extend their momentum when they travel to face Katsina United in their next NPFL fixture.
