Fiorentina’s difficult start to the 2026-27 Serie A campaign continued on Saturday as Torino came from behind to win 2-1 and deepen the hosts’ run of league defeats.
The result gave Torino their first victory of the new Serie A season, while Fiorentina suffered a third consecutive loss in the Italian top flight.
Fiorentina began the match as the favourites and were the more dominant side during the opening 45 minutes. They controlled more of the possession and spent much of the first half attempting to find a way through Torino’s defence.
However, that territorial advantage did not produce an early goal. Fiorentina were unable to turn their greater share of the ball into a breakthrough before half-time, leaving the match goalless at the interval.
The hosts finally opened the scoring shortly after the restart. Mateo Pellegrino found the net in the 47th minute to put Fiorentina in front and give them the advantage they had been unable to establish during the first half.
Torino responded strongly after falling behind and changed the direction of the contest in the second period. Their pressure produced an equaliser when Rolando Mandragora scored to bring the visitors level.
With the game now balanced, Torino continued to push for a winning goal. Their efforts were rewarded when Che Adams struck to complete the comeback and secure all three points.
Fiorentina could not respond to Torino’s turnaround, despite having controlled more of the first half and having taken the lead so soon after the interval. Instead, the defeat extended their losing sequence to three matches in Serie A during the 2026-27 season.
For Torino, the victory marked a significant early-season result. They had begun the new Serie A campaign without a win, but goals from Mandragora and Adams overturned Pellegrino’s opener and delivered their first three points of the competition.
The outcome also underlined the contrast between the two sides’ current league fortunes. Fiorentina had entered the fixture as the expected winners and had held the greater share of possession before the break, yet Torino were able to recover after conceding and claim victory.
A match that initially appeared to be moving in Fiorentina’s favour therefore ended with Torino celebrating a first win of the campaign. Fiorentina, meanwhile, were left to reflect on another defeat after surrendering their lead in the second half.
