Shooting Stars Sports Club earned their first away points of the season as Otaniyi Taofeek scored his first goal for the club in a 2-2 draw with Ikorodu City.
The midfielder opened the scoring after only three minutes in Sunday’s week 10 EUROMATCH NPFL fixture at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Lagos.
Shooting Stars, also known as the Oluyole Warriors, built on their early advantage to move 2-0 ahead. However, Ikorodu City responded in the Southwest derby and recovered to secure a share of the points.
The result ended a difficult run on the road for the Ibadan-based side, who had lost each of their previous four away matches this season. During those defeats, 3SC had scored just twice and conceded seven goals.
Taofeek’s contribution was highlighted by Shooting Stars after the match, with the club congratulating the midfielder on opening his account for the team.
“A big moment for our midfielder, Otaniyi Taofeek as he nets his first goal for Shooting Stars in the Southwest Derby,” the club said on its X handle.
The draw was also significant for 3SC because of the strength Ikorodu City have shown at home. The hosts had been particularly effective in front of their supporters, including a 2-0 victory against Kwara United in their most recent home fixture.
Despite surrendering their two-goal lead, Shooting Stars left Mobolaji Johnson Arena with a point to end their sequence of away defeats and add their first points on the road this season.
