Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says he would have gladly remained at the club for another year if he had known Jurgen Klopp was going to become manager.
Gerrard left Liverpool in the summer of 2015 to join LA Galaxy. Brendan Rodgers was dismissed later that autumn, with Klopp appointed as his replacement.
Klopp went on to achieve major success at Liverpool, but Gerrard had already moved on by then. Eighteen months after leaving the club, the former midfielder retired from football and began his coaching career.
