Semi Ajayi has praised Hull City’s reaction to their previous defeat after the Tigers drew 1-1 with Brentford at the MKM Stadium on Sunday.

Hull City responded to their 1-0 loss to Fulham by producing a determined performance against Brentford, although they were unable to convert their advantage into a second Premier League victory of the season.

The hosts took control in the 24th minute when Oli McBurnie scored from the penalty spot. Hull City protected their lead until half-time and appeared on course to claim all three points.

Brentford returned from the interval with greater attacking intent and levelled three minutes after the hour mark. Dango Ouattara finished the visitors’ move to bring the score to 1-1.

Despite conceding an equaliser, Hull City held on for a point and retained their unbeaten home record in the Premier League this season. Brentford also extended their unbeaten run away from home.

Ajayi was one of Hull City’s standout performers and was named both the Premier League Player of the Match and Hull City Player of the Match.

The centre-back admitted that the hosts were disappointed not to win but felt the result represented a positive response to their loss against Fulham.

“It’s important that we had a good bounce back from last week, we did that,” Ajayi told Sky Sports.

“We are definitely disappointed not to come away with the three points, but a point at home is always positive.”

The draw leaves Brentford sixth in the league table, while Hull City occupy 10th place.

Hull City’s performance ensured they recovered from the setback at Fulham, but Brentford’s second-half pressure denied the hosts what would have been a valuable home win.
