Ruud Gullit has offered his support to Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt, who has been sidelined for almost a year with a back problem.
The 27-year-old spent six months undergoing treatment before having surgery. He ultimately missed the World Cup as a result of the injury.
De Ligt’s most recent appearance for Manchester United came on 30 November 2025, when they were beaten 2-1 by Crystal Palace.
Gullit, a former captain of the Netherlands, has expressed his backing for the defender during his continued absence.
