Roma are considering a move for former Bayern Munich defender Raphael Guerreiro as they search for reinforcements on the left side of their defence.

The Serie A club have not yet made a final decision on whether to pursue the Portugal international, but his name is being seriously assessed alongside other potential options, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.

Guerreiro, 32, is currently a free agent after leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season. His availability could make him a candidate for Roma as they review possible additions to their squad.

The Portuguese player spent three years with Bayern Munich, where he was used as a versatile defender and was also capable of operating in midfield. Before moving to the German champions, he represented Borussia Dortmund for seven years.

Roma’s interest is understood to be linked specifically to their desire to strengthen at left-back. Guerreiro’s ability to contribute in more than one position is among the factors behind the club’s consideration of his profile, although there has been no final decision on his possible arrival.

At this stage, Guerreiro is one of several names being examined rather than an agreed signing. Roma are continuing to assess their alternatives, with the former Bayern Munich player included in that process.

Guerreiro’s next move remains undecided after his three-year spell at Bayern Munich came to an end. During that period, he continued to be viewed as a player capable of covering both defensive and midfield roles. His previous seven years at Borussia Dortmund also mean he has extensive experience of German football.

For now, the reported interest has not progressed to a confirmed agreement. Roma’s search for a left-sided defensive reinforcement is ongoing, and Guerreiro is being considered alongside other candidates as the Italian club weighs its options.
