Crystal Palace have strengthened their midfield with the signing of Netherlands international Quinten Timber from Marseille.
The 25-year-old will continue his career in the Premier League after completing a move to the London club, Crystal Palace’s press office confirmed. Timber has agreed a contract running until the end of June 2031.
According to Transfermarkt, Crystal Palace have paid €20m for the midfielder. The deal brings Timber’s spell with Marseille to an end and gives the Eagles a long-term addition to their squad.
Timber is the brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber. The pair are both Dutch footballers, with Quinten playing in midfield and Jurrien operating in defence.
The move follows a season in which Quinten Timber made 15 appearances in Ligue 1 for Marseille. He was booked five times during those matches but did not register a goal or an assist.
Crystal Palace’s announcement confirms that Timber will now play in the English top flight, while the length of his new contract represents a commitment through the end of the 2030-31 season.
The midfielder leaves Marseille after featuring in 15 league matches during the most recent Ligue 1 campaign. Although he was involved regularly enough to make those appearances, he finished the season without a goal contribution and collected five yellow cards.
His arrival at Crystal Palace was confirmed after the two clubs completed an agreement reported by Transfermarkt to be worth €20m. The transfer also ends the latest chapter of Timber’s career in France and marks his move to the Premier League.
The Eagles have not disclosed any further details about the contract beyond its expiry date, but the agreement is scheduled to remain in force until 30 June 2031.
Timber’s move also creates a new connection between Crystal Palace and Arsenal through the midfielder’s family relationship with Jurrien Timber. The Arsenal defender is Quinten’s brother, while Quinten will now begin his next period of club football with Crystal Palace.
The Netherlands midfielder’s most recent competitive record at Marseille consists of 15 Ligue 1 appearances, five yellow cards and no goals or assists. He will now look to continue his career in England after leaving the French club.
