Parma have begun the search for a successor to sacked head coach Carlos Cuesta, with former Italy striker Alberto Gilardino among the leading candidates for the vacancy.
Journalist Alfredo Pedulla reports that Parma have already made direct contact with Gilardino. However, any appointment could depend on the coach ending his current contract with Pisa.
Gilardino was previously considered by Parma for the head coach’s position following Cristian Chivu’s move to Inter. The club ultimately opted to appoint Cuesta instead.
The 43-year-old has extensive experience of Serie A, having kept Genoa in Italy’s top flight during two full seasons as head coach.
