Paul Onuachu and Chibuike Nwaiwu were both on target, while Anthony Nwakaeme provided an assist as Trabzonspor secured a 2-1 win over Galatasaray at Papara Park, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Trabzonspor made a bright start to the encounter, taking the lead just four minutes into the game through Onuachu, who rose highest to head home a well-delivered cross from Wagner Pina.
The Nigerian international’s goal marked his 22nd in the league this season, further underlining his impressive scoring form for the Black Sea Storm.
Galatasaray responded early in the second half, with Wilfried Singo drawing the visitors level.
However, Trabzonspor restored their advantage shortly after the hour mark when Nwaiwu powered in a header from Nwakaeme’s perfectly delivered free-kick to seal the victory.
Since arriving at the club in January, Nwaiwu has now scored three goals, continuing his strong start with the Turkish side.
The result sees Trabzonspor climb to second place on the league table with 63 points from 28 matches, just one point behind leaders Galatasaray, while Fenerbahçe sit third with 60 points.
