NYLC Super 8 Championship: Enyimba FC falter in second game against Plateau United

Published on: 25 June 2025

Enyimba FC's poor run in the Nigeria Youth League Cup Super Eight Championship continued following a consecutive loss on Tuesday morning in Lagos, NigeriaSoccernet.com reports.

After a 0-2 loss to Kwara United, the young Elephants fell to another 1-2 defeat at the hands of the young Peace Boys at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

The People's Elephant started the encounter with a push for their first win in a cagey affair until the defense's failed offside trap saw Pede Ezekiel alone with the goalkeeper as the striker put the ball behind the net to give the Jos Boys the lead three minutes before the end of the first half.

Enyimba FC continued the push for the equalizer, but Plateau United remained resolute to hold on to their lead. As the encounter wore on, the Aba giants seemed to have taken their foot off the gas as poor defending gave Plateau United their second goal in additional time.

Amos John was at the right place at the right time in the box to hit the ball beyond Enyimba's goalkeeper after 90 plus 4 minutes added time.

John Oscar pulled one back for Enyimba a minute later, but the goal only proved a consolation as the match ended 1-2, which saw Plateau United become the first team to progress to the semi-final.
