Nigeria have made two late changes to their squad for Friday’s friendly against Russia, with Wilfred Ndidi and Akpe Victory ruled out through injury.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that Besiktas midfielder Ndidi and FC Basel defender Victory had both withdrawn from the Super Eagles’ squad after suffering physical problems.
Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has responded by calling up Vince Osuji of Tromsø and John Otomewo of Stade de Reims as replacements.
The withdrawals further weaken a squad already missing nine regular starters, including forward Victor Osimhen.
The changes come four days before Nigeria face Russia in Nizhny Novgorod, adding to the selection difficulties facing Chelle as he prepares for the match.
Nigeria began their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign successfully, but the growing list of absentees has complicated preparations for the friendly against Russia.
