Nicolo Tresoldi header gives Club Bruges half-time advantage at PSV

Club Bruges lead PSV Eindhoven 1-0 at half-time in their fourth-day league phase match in the UEFA Champions League, with Nicolo Tresoldi scoring the only goal of the opening 45 minutes at the Philips Stadion.

The Bruges centre-forward broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, directing a well-placed header into the net after the visitors had applied sustained pressure. Tresoldi, who has already impressed during the early part of the season, once again demonstrated his effectiveness in European competition.

PSV Eindhoven now have to find a response in the second half after being frustrated on home soil. Peter Bosz’s side will need greater attacking sharpness if they are to avoid a damaging result, while Ivan Leko’s Club Bruges will aim to protect their lead and continue exploiting the space available to them in search of a second goal.
