Newcastle players remain supportive of head coach Matthias Jaissle but are seeking greater clarity over his instructions and the responsibilities he gives them during matches, according to a source close to the dressing room who spoke to the Daily Mail.
The squad continues to back the German coach and wants to improve the club’s league position. However, some experienced members of the team accept they share responsibility for the current situation while also believing they need a clearer understanding of Jaissle’s expectations on the pitch.
There are also questions within the squad over Newcastle’s continued use of a number 10, with some players unsure why the system remains in place when they do not have someone they consider genuinely suited to the role.
Newcastle have collected 11 points and are 13th in the English Premier League.
