Milan and Juventus reach rare Serie A stalemate after three straight draws

Published on: 07 September 2026

Milan and Juventus have drawn for a third consecutive Serie A meeting, extending a run not seen in this fixture for more than 50 years.

The sides played out a 1-1 draw in the third round of the Italian championship, continuing an unusually persistent period of deadlock between two of Italian football’s most prominent clubs.

Their two league meetings during the previous season both finished 0-0. The latest match therefore became the third successive Serie A encounter in which neither Milan nor Juventus could claim victory.

It is the first time since November 1973 that the clubs have shared three consecutive league draws. The sequence from that period eventually reached four matches, meaning the current run has yet to equal the longest such streak recorded between the teams.

The most recent victory in this fixture came in January 2025. Juventus won 2-0 against Milan in the second half of the 2024-2025 season, which remains the last occasion on which either side defeated the other in the championship.

Since then, every Serie A meeting between the clubs has ended without a winner. The goalless matches from last season were followed by the 1-1 result in the third round of the current campaign, leaving the rivals separated once again only by the goals scored in the latest match.

Although the scoreline was different from the two 0-0 draws that preceded it, the outcome continued the same pattern: Milan and Juventus remain unable to overcome one another in three successive league fixtures.

That makes the current sequence the longest run of consecutive Serie A draws between the clubs for over five decades. The only longer sequence mentioned in the fixture’s history came in 1973, when four matches in a row finished level.

For now, the teams’ latest meeting has extended a recent rivalry defined by balance rather than victories. Juventus’s 2-0 success in January 2025 is still the reference point for the last win, while the three matches since then have produced two goalless draws and one game in which each club scored once.
