Manchester City could face new UEFA investigation after financial breaches ruling

Manchester City could face a fresh UEFA case if they lose their appeal against the findings of an independent commission that they committed numerous financial breaches.

UEFA previously banned Manchester City from the Champions League for two years in 2020 after ruling that the club had broken financial regulations. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) overturned that punishment.

The latest development follows the independent commission’s decision to find Manchester City guilty of multiple breaches. UEFA may now consider reopening proceedings against the club.

The Touchline, citing the Mirror, reports that UEFA did not have access to the evidence used in the Premier League investigation when it conducted its earlier case against Manchester City.

UEFA is currently monitoring Manchester City’s appeal. A new disciplinary process under UEFA’s jurisdiction could begin if the club’s appeal is unsuccessful.
