Nigerian forward Josh Maja continued his impressive individual campaign by scoring his fourth Ligue 1 goal of the season, although Le Havre suffered a heavy 5-1 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Friday night.
Le Havre made a bright start at the Stade Océane despite entering the contest at the bottom of the table without a league victory. They had collected just two points from their opening eight matches but took a surprise lead in the 18th minute.
Rayan Fofana drove forward down the left flank before delivering a cross to the far post, where Maja arrived to turn the ball into the net and put the hosts ahead.
However, PSG responded strongly, with Achraf Hakimi leading the comeback by scoring a hat-trick as the defending champions found the net five times to secure a convincing victory.
Maja nearly added another goal in the second half when his header struck the post, but Le Havre could not find a way back into the contest.
The defeat leaves Le Havre rooted to the bottom of the Ligue 1 standings with two points from nine matches, while PSG moved to the top with 20 points.
Despite his team's struggles, Maja has now scored four goals in nine league appearances this season, accounting for a significant share of Le Havre's seven goals in the competition.
