James Maddison scored for Tottenham for the first time in 16 months when he found the net against Coventry in the evening match of the Premier League’s seventh round.
The England midfielder’s previous goal before 19 October 2026 came late in the season before last. Maddison scored against Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt in the semi-final of the Europa League, a competition Tottenham went on to win.
Since then, the 16-month period has been marked by injuries and limited playing time, with Maddison spending more time recovering than appearing on the pitch. He ended that run on Monday by scoring against Coventry.
The match also saw Tottenham take the lead for the first time this season. A text commentary of Tottenham v Coventry was being provided during the game.
