Lille and Real Betis confirm starting line-ups for UEFA Champions League clash

Published on: 08 September 2026

The starting line-ups for the UEFA Champions League meeting between LOSC Lille and Real Betis have been confirmed less than an hour before kick-off on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.

The match is scheduled to begin at 19:00, with both managers having now revealed the tactical plans they will use for the European fixture.

LOSC Lille will line up in their familiar 4-2-3-1 formation, while Real Betis have chosen a more attacking 4-3-3 system. The contrasting shapes provide an early indication of how the two sides intend to approach the game.

For the French club, captain Benjamin Andre will form part of the team’s central structure in midfield. He will be joined in the side’s key spine by playmaker Gaetan Perrin, whose role will be to help create opportunities for Japan striker Ayase Ueda.

Ueda will lead the Lille attack as the central forward. Perrin is expected to operate behind him, with the pair forming the main link between the midfield and the front of the team.

Real Betis have selected a strong-looking side built around the experience and creativity of Isco. The former Spain international will act as the team’s chief conductor in the centre of the pitch, positioned behind an attacking trio.

That forward line consists of Rodrigo Riquelme, Troy Parrott and Brazilian winger Antony. Their inclusion reflects the attacking emphasis of the 4-3-3 formation chosen by Real Betis for the contest.

The Spanish side’s structure places Isco directly behind the three forwards, while Lille’s 4-2-3-1 gives Perrin a central role behind Ueda. Both teams have therefore identified a creative player to operate between midfield and attack, although they will do so within different tactical systems.

With the official selections now announced, the focus turns to how the two formations perform once the match begins. Lille will rely on their established 4-2-3-1, with Andre providing leadership in midfield and Perrin supporting Ueda in attack.

Real Betis, meanwhile, will look to make use of their attacking three, with Isco responsible for directing play from behind Riquelme, Parrott and Antony.

The confirmed choices mean the European fixture will begin with Lille using a two-man midfield base and a single central striker, while Real Betis will deploy three forwards from the outset.

Kick-off is due at 19:00 on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, with both clubs’ tactical intentions now clear ahead of the meeting.
