Ikorodu City have congratulated Michael Atata and Aderemi Adeoye after the two Nigeria Premier Football League players were named in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming international programme.
Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle announced his selections on Thursday for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar on September 25 and Guinea-Bissau on September 29, as well as an international friendly against Russia on October 6.
Atata and Adeoye were included in the 24-man squad selected for the match against Russia. Goalkeeper Atata was named alongside Stanley Nwabali and Samuel James, while midfielder Adeoye was listed with Wilfred Ndidi, Chibuzor Nwoko, Raphael Onyedika, Fumen Michael, Georges Wilfred, Popoola Abdulrazaq and Suleiman Mubarak.
Ikorodu City celebrated the selections in a message posted on their X account.

For the two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Chelle selected Arthur Okonkwo, Maduka Okoye and Nwabali as his goalkeeping options.
The defensive group consists of Bruno Onyemaechi, Calvin Bassey, Olaoluwa Aina and Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Alex Iwobi, Ndidi, Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika are the midfielders included for the qualifiers, while the attacking options are Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon and Tolu Arokodare.
Atata and Adeoye’s selections represent a significant moment for Ikorodu City, who referred to the pair as their “national team duo” in their message of congratulations.
The Russia fixture will take place on October 6, following Nigeria’s qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau on September 25 and September 29 respectively.
