Jordan Henderson is expected to retain his place in Chelsea’s starting line-up for their Premier League meeting with Tottenham, after convincing head coach Xabi Alonso that he can still make an important contribution.
The 36-year-old midfielder has completed all 90 minutes in each of Chelsea’s past three league matches. He also scored twice and supplied an assist in the Blues’ 5-1 victory over Bournemouth.
According to The Touchline, citing journalist Bobby Vincent, Henderson will start again in today’s home derby against Tottenham. Alonso believes the veteran’s experience is needed by the team.
Chelsea’s match against Spurs will begin at 19:30 Moscow time.
Henderson, formerly Liverpool’s captain, joined the ranks of the “pensioners” in August as a free agent.
