Harry Kane has won the Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Bayern Munich player to receive the award since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981.
The England striker’s triumph was announced at a ceremony in London. It ends a 45-year wait for a player from the Munich club to claim football’s most prestigious individual prize.
Kane has played for Bayern Munich since the summer of 2023. The 33-year-old was also awarded the Gerd Muller Trophy, which is presented to the best striker of the year.
Under Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich won every domestic trophy available to them last season. They also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Rummenigge was the previous Bayern Munich player to win the Ballon d’Or, celebrating his success in 1981.
