Plateau United forward Gideon Monday has expressed his delight after scoring against his former club Shooting Stars in Sunday’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Jos-based side recovered from a half-time deficit to record an impressive 3-1 comeback victory over Shooting Stars, with Monday putting the result beyond doubt late in the game.
Monday, who spent two seasons with the Ibadan club between 2023 and 2025, scored Plateau United’s third goal in the 87th minute.
The forward rose to meet a cross with a well-timed header to complete the comeback and register his first league goal of the season for Gbenga Ogunbote’s side.
Speaking after the match, Monday admitted that the victory was particularly satisfying because of his connection with Shooting Stars.
“First of all, I’m really happy for the victory, and I’m happy to have scored my first goal for the team in the league.
“I feel very happy scoring against my former club, Shooting Stars. When the ball came, I knew I would meet the ball, and I got the goal.”
The victory further strengthened Plateau United’s positive start to the campaign as they continue their push for a strong finish in the NPFL.
