Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen has spoken out about a disturbing incident during the Super Eagles' 4-1 victory over Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying semi-final playoff, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Osimhen, who scored a brace in the match, revealed that he was targeted by a fan with a laser pointer, which was shone on his face after he scored Nigeria's third goal.
Speaking to ESPN UK, the Galatasaray attacker said, "I actually saw the person pointing the laser at me; the person was in the stands. They know the kind of quality we possess. They are trying to use the laser to distract us. I just keep it moving, I don't even think about it".
Osimhen's teammates Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke also scored in Nigeria's impressive win, which secured their place in the playoff final against DR Congo.
