Francesco Totti says son’s birth meant more than Italy title or World Cup

Francesco Totti has revealed that the birth of his son Christian was the happiest moment of his playing career, ahead of winning the Serie A title with Roma or lifting the World Cup with Italy.

Asked by Corriere della Sera to choose between those two achievements, the Roma legend said: “No. It was the day Christian was born. I was playing in Messina at the time. By the time I reached the maternity hospital, he had already been born. When I held him in my arms, I understood what the word ‘happiness’ really meant.”

Totti won the Italian championship with Roma in 2001 before becoming a world champion with Italy in 2006.

Christian Totti ended his playing career at the age of 19. It appears that Totti’s son did not find his path as a footballer. He is now 20.
