Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has commented on Harry Kane’s first Ballon d’Or victory.

The England striker was named the winner at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London on 26 October, claiming the prestigious award for the first time in his career.

Kane finished ahead of Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe, who came second in the voting. Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal was third.

Ferdinand’s remarks followed the landmark achievement for his fellow England international, who became the latest recipient of the individual honour at Monday’s ceremony.
