Erling Haaland moves second on Manchester City’s Champions League scoring list

Erling Haaland has become the second-highest scorer for an English club in the Champions League after reaching 38 goals for Manchester City.

The Norway striker scored twice on Wednesday as Manchester City lost 4-2 to Paris Saint-Germain. His double moved him beyond two former Premier League forwards in the competition’s all-time scoring rankings for English clubs.

Only Mohamed Salah, the former Liverpool forward, has scored more Champions League goals for an English side. Salah leads the list with 47.

Haaland’s total of 38 puts him ahead of Didier Drogba and Sergio Aguero, who share third place with 36 goals each. Drogba is a Chelsea legend, while Aguero is regarded as one of Manchester City’s greatest players.

The 26-year-old joined Manchester City in the summer of 2022 from Borussia Dortmund.
