Enyimba Fans Voice Concerns After Home Defeat to Ikorodu City

Supporters of Enyimba FC have expressed growing anxiety over the club’s form following a 1–0 home defeat to Ikorodu City FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The loss in Aba on Sunday leaves the former champions languishing in 14th position on the league table with 31 points, sparking fears among fans that the club could be dragged into a relegation battle if performances do not improve.

Traditionally formidable at home, Enyimba’s recent struggles at the Enyimba International Stadium have particularly alarmed supporters.

“Enyimba are now giving away points in Aba,” lamented Chukwuemeka Onwuka, echoing the frustration felt by many who witnessed the setback.

Other fans, including Chimaobi Williams, Godwin Kalu, and Benet Nwachukwu, questioned the club’s direction this season. They pointed out that four different coaches have taken charge of the team during the current campaign without achieving the desired turnaround in results.

In an effort to stabilise the situation, Abia State Governor Alex Otti recently sanctioned structural changes within the club. The reshuffle saw the appointment of Deutsch Emmanuel Gustave as Head Coach and Daniel Eke as Sporting Director.

Despite those measures, Enyimba’s inconsistency continues to fuel anxiety among supporters, with calls intensifying for urgent improvements to steer the club clear of the lower end of the NPFL standings as the season progresses.
