The Nigeria Professional Football League match between Enugu Rangers and Nasarawa United has been suspended after heavy rainfall left the Dan Anyiam Stadium pitch unplayable.
The game was level at 1-1 when the rain intensified, leaving large pools of water across the playing surface. The conditions prevented the ball from moving properly and raised concerns over player safety.
Match officials stopped the fixture in the 63rd minute, following the league’s protocols for severe weather.
Players and coaching staff left the field for the dressing rooms as the downpour continued. Although the match had been played for just over an hour, the outstanding 27 minutes, plus stoppage time, will not be replayed from the beginning.
Instead, the game will resume from the point at which it was suspended at 8:30 AM tomorrow morning.
The decision allows the fixture to be completed while maintaining safe and fair playing conditions. League authorities continue to prioritise player welfare when extreme weather affects NPFL matches.
