Diego Gomez scored from 51 metres as Brighton recorded their second emphatic victory of the season against Crystal Palace.
The strike was the longest-range goal in the Premier League since Wayne Rooney found the net for Everton against West Ham in November 2017 from 58 metres.
Gomez’s effort was the second goal of the match and came in the seventh minute. Brighton went on to score five times against Crystal Palace, securing another convincing victory in the current campaign.
Their previous win by the same margin came against Frank Lampard’s Coventry.
Brighton’s next Premier League fixture will be against Liverpool.
