Dani Ceballos will continue his career with Real Betis after the Spanish club officially confirmed the signing of the former Real Madrid and Arsenal midfielder.
The 30-year-old has joined Real Betis as a free agent and has agreed a three-season contract with the Seville-based club. The move was announced by Real Betis’ press office, confirming the midfielder’s next step after his latest spell at Real Madrid.
Ceballos spent the previous season with the Spanish champions, making 16 appearances in the league. He received one yellow card during those matches but did not register a goal or an assist.
His transfer means Ceballos will now represent Real Betis, while one of his first fixtures with the club is scheduled to come against his former side. Real Betis are due to host Real Madrid at their home stadium on 4 September.
The match will therefore provide an immediate meeting with the club Ceballos represented during the previous campaign. It will also bring him up against the side for which he made his 16 league appearances last season, although no further details about his role in the upcoming fixture have been given.
Ceballos’ professional background includes spells with both Real Madrid and Arsenal. His move to Real Betis has been completed without a transfer fee, with the player joining after becoming a free agent. The agreement announced by the club runs until the end of three seasons.
Real Betis confirmed the signing without disclosing any additional terms. The club’s announcement establishes the duration of the contract and Ceballos’ free-agent status, while the midfielder’s statistics from last season show that he played 16 league matches for Real Madrid, collected one booking and recorded no goal contributions.
The newly signed midfielder’s first scheduled home match is consequently set to carry added significance, as Real Betis prepare to welcome Real Madrid on 4 September. It will be the first listed meeting between Ceballos’ new club and the team he left after last season.
Ceballos will now begin a three-season spell with Real Betis, having completed the move from Real Madrid as a free agent. The Seville club’s confirmation brings to a close the uncertainty over his next destination and formally adds the former Arsenal and Real Madrid player to their squad.
