CO Korhogo recover to draw with AS PSI in CAF Confederation Cup first leg

Published on: 04 September 2026

AS PSI and CO Korhogo will take an even contest into the second leg after sharing a 2-2 draw in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The opening match was played on Friday at the Stade Olympique Marechal Idriss Deby Itno, where neither side could establish an advantage before the return fixture in Cote d’Ivoire.

CO Korhogo went into half-time ahead, giving the Ivorian side the initiative after the opening 45 minutes. AS PSI, representing Chad, responded quickly after the interval and brought the match level.

The home team then completed its turnaround by moving 2-1 ahead. That put AS PSI in front after falling behind before half-time and appeared to place the Chadian side in a strong position in the tie.

CO Korhogo, however, refused to surrender control of the qualification contest. The Ivorian club found a way back into the match and scored again to make it 2-2, ensuring the first leg ended without a winner.

The result leaves the two sides level on aggregate and means the qualification battle remains unresolved. Neither AS PSI nor CO Korhogo has taken a decisive advantage into the second meeting.

They will meet again on Sunday, 13 September 2026, in Korhogo, Cote d’Ivoire. The return match will determine which team progresses to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

For AS PSI, the draw offers the prospect of completing the job on foreign soil after recovering from a half-time deficit and briefly moving in front. CO Korhogo, meanwhile, will take confidence from its ability to recover after losing the lead and falling 2-1 behind.

The 2-2 scoreline reflects a match in which the momentum shifted after the break. CO Korhogo held the advantage at the interval, but AS PSI changed the direction of the game soon after the restart. The visitors then responded once more to make sure the tie stayed balanced.

With the first leg finished, the teams must now prepare for a decisive second encounter in Korhogo. The return fixture will settle the outcome of the tie after both clubs scored twice in the opening match.
