Chelsea have reportedly been offered the chance to sign former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma, who is currently without a club.
The proposal has emerged after Chelsea were unable to bring in a replacement for Enzo Fernandez following his sale, according to The Sun. Although the transfer window in England has already closed, Bissouma remains available because he left Tottenham in the summer as a free agent.
That status means Chelsea can still sign the 30-year-old Mali international despite the closure of the domestic transfer window. The midfielder is understood to have been presented as an option for the Blues as they look to address the position previously occupied by Fernandez.
Bissouma’s availability has also attracted interest from Ajax and Monaco. However, the midfielder would prefer to remain in England, a factor that could make a move to Chelsea appealing if the club decides to pursue the opportunity.
There is no indication in the report that Chelsea have reached an agreement with Bissouma or formally opened negotiations. Instead, the player has been put forward as a potential solution following the club’s failure to complete another signing after Fernandez’s departure.
Bissouma spent four years with Tottenham, joining the club in 2022. During his time with Spurs, he made 111 appearances and scored two goals.
The midfielder is therefore able to consider his next move without the restrictions that would normally apply to a player still under contract. Chelsea, meanwhile, could add him outside the standard transfer-window process because he is a free agent.
Ajax and Monaco are also monitoring the situation, but Bissouma’s reported preference to continue his career in England could influence the outcome. For now, Chelsea have been presented with the opportunity to consider an experienced midfielder who has previously played in the Premier League.
