Tunisia coach Mouine Chaabani says his side must secure victory against Botswana in their second Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying match after opening their campaign with a draw against Uganda.
Chaabani expects a strong response from his players and has set out a clear objective ahead of the meeting with Botswana.
“We have no choice but to win,” he said, adding that “everything will be done” to secure all three points.
The Tunisia manager, however, urged patience with a squad still being rebuilt. He rejected the idea of making swift judgements about the team’s progress based on one result.
“We have players who are only just beginning to get used to major competitions,” Chaabani said.
He added that “we must give them time” and avoid deciding their level on the basis of “one match”.
Chaabani also stressed that togetherness would be important as Tunisia seek to move forward in the qualifiers. He called for a collective effort involving the players, coaching staff and supporters.
“We are in a rebuilding phase. We need everyone: the public, the players and the staff. Together, we can succeed,” he said.
