Brazil v Spain: 2026 quarter-final will produce first winner in Women’s U-20 World Cup rivalry

Published on: 19 September 2026

Brazil and Spain have met only once before their Women’s U-20 World Cup 2026 quarter-final, with their previous encounter ending without a goal.

Their sole meeting took place on 10 August 2022 during the group stage of the Women’s U-20 World Cup. Neither side managed to break the deadlock, and the game finished 0-0 after 90 minutes.

The quarter-final will therefore mark a first in one significant respect. Unlike in 2022, a draw cannot allow both teams to continue in the competition together.

Only one of Brazil or Spain will progress to the semi-finals.
