Benoit Tremoulinas, 40, wants Bordeaux return after club’s fall to sixth tier

Former France left-back Benoit Tremoulinas is ready to return to the pitch to help Bordeaux, the club where he enjoyed the most memorable moments of his career.

The 40-year-old has expressed a desire to rejoin the historic French side, who have dropped to the sixth division following a sporting and administrative crisis that has had a major impact on the organisation.

Tremoulinas came through every level of Bordeaux’s club system before becoming an important member of the team that won Ligue 1 in 2009 under Laurent Blanc. That side remains particularly well remembered by supporters for the quality of its football and its strong character.

A return would give Tremoulinas the chance to repay the club that helped launch his career at the highest level of French football.

The former defender also played for Dynamo Kyiv during his career.
