Ismael Saibari has made an immediate impression on the German media after scoring his first goal for Bayern Munich in Friday’s 7-0 victory over Union Berlin.
The attacking midfielder, who joined the German champions from PSV Eindhoven at the beginning of the summer, came on for Luis Diaz in the 63rd minute. Seven minutes later, he made it 5-0 with a powerful individual move and an unstoppable finish.
Saibari used his physical strength to create space before striking decisively, adding to the growing impression that he is adapting quickly to life at Der Rekordmeister.
Sport awarded the Morocco international a rating of 1.5. In Germany’s grading system, 1 is the highest mark and 6 the lowest.
“As a substitute, he quickly found his feet,” the publication wrote.
Sport also highlighted the way Saibari surged forward on his own before scoring, adding: “He scored after a superb solo run and, in added time, was close to claiming his second goal.”
Abendzeitung Munchen gave Saibari a rating of 2, praising his impact after replacing Diaz on the left.
“He replaced Diaz on the left flank and scored the fifth goal of the evening following a determined individual effort,” it said. “His first goal since his move from Eindhoven.”
Spox also rated him 2 and described the run that led to the goal as a “magnificent solo run”.
It noted that the strike came after Saibari had already provided three assists in his first three matches of the season.
La RAN awarded him the same rating and called him a “dangerous player”.
“In the 70th minute, he launched an irresistible solo run,” it wrote. “He finished superbly to make it 5-0.”
The goal was another decisive contribution from the bench for Saibari, who has featured regularly during his early weeks with Bayern Munich.
He has played seven matches for the Bavarian club so far and has made a telling impact as a substitute in most of those appearances.
