Paris Saint-Germain host Barcelona at the Parc des Princes this week in a Champions League meeting between two teams that have made perfect starts to their European campaigns.

PSG have recorded victories over Slovan Bratislava and Manchester City, while Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have overcome Galatasaray and Feyenoord.

Barcelona arrive in Paris in exceptional form after extending their winning run to 11 matches in all competitions. They have scored 48 goals since the beginning of the season and will face a Paris Saint-Germain side attempting to win the Champions League for a third successive time.

Les Parisiens have also been in impressive form, with six consecutive victories in all competitions. Their most recent European success came against Manchester City, setting up a contest between two sides who have both enjoyed strong results in their opening matches.

The match will begin at 20:00 UK time at the Parc des Princes.

PSG will be without Nuno Mendes, Senny Mayulu and teenage goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni. Barcelona’s absentees are Andreas Christensen, Roony Bardghji, Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia.

Confirmed line-ups

Paris Saint-Germain: Safonov, Mendes, Pacho, Marquinhos, Hakimi, Vitinha, Ruiz, Neves, Kvaratskhelia, Dembele, Doue.

Barcelona: Garcia, Cancelo, Martin, Cubarsi, Kounde, Pedri, Rodri, Gordon, Lopez, Yamal, Raphinha.

The two clubs have met frequently in the Champions League and PSG have won their past two meetings with Barcelona. Matches between the sides have produced an average of about 3.8 goals.

Barcelona’s defensive record in Europe remains a concern, with the Catalan club having failed to keep a clean sheet in their past 17 Champions League matches. However, their last 30 games in the competition have featured 140 goals.

PSG, meanwhile, are unbeaten in 12 successive Champions League matches as they look to continue their latest run and maintain their challenge for another European title.
