Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has promised to bring goals and hard work to Coventry City as the newly promoted side prepares to return to the Premier League against Arsenal on Friday, NigeriaSoccernet.com reports.
Awoniyi completed his move to Coventry City from Nottingham Forest in August 2026 after spending four seasons at the City Ground. The Nigerian forward is now determined to make an immediate impact with his new club.
“I think for sure, goals. Like I said, goals and hard work as well,” Awoniyi said.
The striker also revealed that legendary forwards such as former Nigeria international Rashidi Yekini, Thierry Henry and Didier Drogba have influenced his approach to the game.
“When I watch the video clip of the late Rashidi Yekini of Nigeria and Thierry Henry and, of course, Didier Drogba,” he added.
Awoniyi will link up with fellow Super Eagles international Frank Onyeka at Coventry, with both Nigerians expected to play important roles as the club looks to establish itself in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old enjoyed four years with Nottingham Forest, scoring 23 goals in 103 appearances before completing his move to Coventry.
He also played an important role in helping Forest retain their Premier League status and reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
Awoniyi will now hope to translate his experience into goals as Coventry begin their top-flight campaign with a difficult trip to Arsenal.
